Daisy goes Winners Bitch at the Labrador Retriever Club
of America
National Specialty!
Eagle Bay Labradors breeds Champion English-style Labrador Retrievers for the show ring and as family companions. We have had Labradors in our lives since 1984, starting with a beautiful yellow boy we named Kyle. We had many rewarding days with our companions and, although they were not show dogs, we were hooked on Labradors from then on. Buster, a large male black Lab, who was very gentle, raised our interest in the Newfoundland breed from which the Labrador Retriever breed was developed. Peach, a little fox-red Lab girl, was Mary’s companion for classes in conformation where she learned about dog shows. In 1999 we established Water’s Edge Newfoundlands and began showing Newfies in conformation. In 2008, with much more experience and several Newfoundland Championships under our belts, we ventured back into Labs after seeing one of Vicky Creamer’s lovely dogs from the prestigious Belquest kennel. We knew that was the style of Lab that we wanted to establish ourselves in the breed and approached Vicky to buy our first two show quality females, Daisy (Belquest One Fine Day at Eagle Bay) and Ashley (Belquest Ashley of Eagle Bay). Meadow (Belquest Fields of Gold at Eagle Bay), another outstanding show quality female puppy, has just come from Belquest to Eagle Bay.
You will find Daisy and Ashley out at the shows with our talented handlers, Jen and Rusty Howard. We are very excited to have Labradors in our kennel and to meet new friends who share our enthusiasm for this special and popular breed.
When we are not taking care of the dogs and kennel, we are pursuing our careers in academia and business. J.C. has been a Professor of Environmental Science at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana for 35 years. He directs the Center for Research in Energy and the Environment and teaches courses at the graduate student level. Mary is the Market Research Director for the Engine Business at Cummins, Inc. in Columbus, Indiana. Our backgrounds in science and business and keen interest in the world of dogs make our kennel competitive, happy and healthy. Our residence and kennel are located on secluded forested property near a small lake in South Central Indiana. We welcome inquiries from those with a serious interest in raising an outstanding and loving Labrador.
